Milonga Del Ayer

My journey through the art of Tango

My tango journey began unexpectedly. I had zero dance experience before tango — it wasn’t something I went looking for and found — it felt like tango found me.

In 2018, I took my first trip to Buenos Aires and was completely hooked by the live music at the milongas. The raw energy, the soul — it was impossible to ignore. When I got back to California, I made a decision: I was going to learn classical guitar.

As I was starting to pick up a couple tango tunes on the guitar, I was still deep in the process of growing as a dancer. It’s been a journey—one with its challenges and breakthroughs—but every step has been worth it. I’m always chasing the next level, always finding new ways to be creative.

I love dancing to the traditional rhythms of Argentine tango, but I’m just as passionate about creating modern interpretations of its music. I want to keep the essence alive while pushing it forward—something fresh that can light a spark in others the same way tango lit one in me
